'And So I Watch You From Afar' at 'Knockanstockan 2010'
Went down to Knockanstockan to shoot some bands and take some shots for the festival, After the first band played my camera broke, the mirror came off the inside, which turns is a fairly important part, the camera was working, but i wasnt able to see what i was taking photos of and my auto focus and exposure meter wouldnt work.
So from then on it had to rely on guess work, experience and good timing to get the following shots.
I learned that letting go of what you would usually do can be a good thing and got some great shots.

Poolbeg Generating Station
This was a 4 minute exposure of the towers. i went out to photograph around 11pm, freezing cold, on a moped. So i set the camera up and let it take its 4 minute exposure, during which time i decided to do some jumping jacks to keep warm. Which is probably why i didn't notice the Garda car pulling up to tell me that im not allowed to take photos of the towers. Id say i looked like a nutter doing jumping jacks in the dark with a camera. Anyway i convinced them that i wasn't a terrorist / espionage spy, and showed them the shot on the back of the camera. They really liked it but i still had to leave.

KnockanDockan
Knocan Dockan is a documentary directed by Luke Leslie at Buckled Cranium Productions about the independant music festival ‘Knockan Stockan’. I worked with Machine.ie members Caoimhe O'Byrne and Catherine Robertson to produce the design work, along with Johnny Norton for editing. Working with machine and Luke to come up with the concept and Caoimhe and myself shooting all the footage. Johnny, Me and Luke put the titles together.
The Poster and DVD's were to reflect the image of the festival but also be similar to the grading of the documentary.
I shot the tree with reference to the Knockanstockan logo and after a good bit of post editing with Caoimhe we got the desired result. and continued the feel onto the DVD.
You can also check out the great teaser on Lukes website here:

puking rainbows fashion spreads
This was a fashion shoot for a zeen called Puking Rainbows which is beeing set up by a couple of graphic designers. The zeen will deal with issues such as Visual Culture, Design in the public eye, Fashion and Typography. All the clothes were shot on the models and then cut-out so they could be put onto cutouts of the models, the idea was from the old fashioned dolls from girls magazines where you could dress the paper doll up. a lot of precision needed but it worked out really well. Thanks to Anna kealey and Caoimhe O'Byrne for design, styling and concept. and thanks to Tim Mc Carthy, Catherine Glasheen and Clare Kealey for being great and patient models.
Florence
I got this photo in Berlin, after taking along my 5d along to the gig to get some nice shots it was kindly taken off me at the door, so i was left with my backup of a canon g9, pushing the iso to the limit and trying to hold it still, along with my beer amongst a dancing crowd, it was the only shot to come out crisp, but it goes to show that you don't need fancy gear to get a great shot.
But it does help...

Absolut Leather
I won a competition In November 2009 with Le Cool magazine to have my image on their front cover, i was thrilled, but along with that i got some free tickets and this questionable bottle of Absolut! So i had to line it up and take a photo of it, many thanks to the great lads at Le Cool, Michael and Ciaran!
